Following its acquisition by the Morson Group in 2025, 3B Training has now formally transitioned into Morson Nexus—a move that represents far more than a name change. Effective from 1st April 2026, the business will operate as the Group’s centre of excellence for upskilling and reskilling in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills.

A Strategic Evolution

While 3B Training built a strong reputation as one of the UK’s leading construction health and safety training providers, becoming Morson Nexus significantly broadens its scope.

Now embedded within the wider Morson Group ecosystem, Morson Nexus expands its reach into key sectors including:

Rail (including London Underground)

Infrastructure

Energy

Engineering and technical services

This evolution enables the organisation to deliver end-to-end workforce development solutions, going beyond training to support the full skills lifecycle.

More Than Training

Morson Nexus brings together learning, development, and workforce deployment in a uniquely integrated model. By working in close alignment with:

Morson Edge (talent solutions)

Morson Vital (infrastructure specialists)

Morson Praxis (engineering consultancy)

This move creates a connected view of skills across Morson Group that allows the organisation to not only train individuals, but also place them into employment, deploy expert teams, and provide technical consultancy.

This positions Morson Nexus as a strategic partner for businesses navigating increasingly complex skills, compliance, and workforce challenges.

Built on Strong Foundations

Despite this transformation, the core of what made 3B Training successful remains unchanged.

The same:

Expert team

High-quality training delivery

Customer-focused approach

will continue to underpin the business—now enhanced by greater capability, national reach, and a significantly expanded service offering. The Morson Nexus service offering now covers:

End-to-end training programme management

Training and qualifications (technical & safety)

Workforce development planning

Reskilling and redeployment initiatives

What This Means for The SHE Show

Morson Nexus’s continued partnership with The SHE Show North East highlights a shared commitment to:

Raising standards across health, safety, and wellbeing

Supporting workforce development across industries

Driving innovation in training and skills

As the organisation steps into this new phase, its presence at the event will reflect its broader vision for the future of skills and employment in the UK.

As Shirley Parsons celebrates 21 years of delivering HSE recruitment and consultancy, this partnership represents more than just a milestone. It reflects a deeper commitment to making a meaningful impact—both within the profession and beyond.

A Partnership with Purpose

At the heart of this collaboration is a powerful cause. Shirley Parsons is currently leading a fundraising initiative to support Leukaemia UK, with an ambitious target of £21,000.

This effort has been inspired by a deeply personal story. In March 2025, a long-standing member of the Shirley Parsons team, Shona Paterson, received the devastating news that her son, Thomas, had been diagnosed with leukaemia. Since then, Thomas has shown remarkable courage—channelling his experience into raising awareness and supporting others facing similar challenges.

Leukaemia UK receives no government funding and relies entirely on public generosity to fund life-saving research, improve treatments, and support families navigating the disease.

Silent Auction at The SHE Show North East

As part of this partnership, The SHE Show will host a Silent Auction during the North East event, with all proceeds going directly to Leukaemia UK.

Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on exclusive experiences delivered by an outstanding lineup of speakers, including:

Rachael Mackenzie – Overcoming Adversity & Resilience

Rob Muldoon – Mental Health and Wellbeing

Guy Bloom – Behaviour and Culture Change

Kate Richardson-Walsh OBE – Inspirational Leadership

Dr Helen Garr – Overcoming Adversity & Resilience

Each speaker has generously donated their time to support the cause, offering sessions either remotely or, where possible, in person. Suggested minimum bids start at £500, with all funds contributing to vital research and support services.

Bidding will take place during the event, with winners notified following the close of the auction.

How You Can Support

In addition to participating in the Silent Auction, attendees and supporters can contribute directly to the fundraising campaign via the official JustGiving page:

https://www.justgiving.com/page/shirley-parsons-13

Every donation—big or small—helps to:

Fund groundbreaking research

Accelerate the development of kinder treatments

Improve early diagnosis

Provide essential support to families affected by leukaemia

Join Us in Making a Difference

The partnership between The SHE Show and Shirley Parsons highlights what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose. The SHE Show North East will not only deliver valuable insights, networking, and inspiration—it will also serve as a platform to create real, lasting change.

We invite all attendees to get involved, support the Silent Auction, and help us reach the £21,000 target for Leukaemia UK.

Together, we can make a difference.

TOP TIPS

Life throws curveballs. No one is getting through it without setbacks, whether it’s a failed exam, the end of a relationship, a mistake at work, or a serious health diagnosis. Over years of working in mental health and well-being, I’ve learned—and seen—that resilience is not something you’re born with. It’s something you build. Think of it like PPE for the mind: tools you can develop to protect yourself mentally and emotionally when life gets tough.

Here are my top five tips, backed by science and experience, for bouncing forward—not just back—when things go wrong.

1. Sh*t will happen

Life isn’t fair. That’s not just a flippant phrase— everyday in my practice I witness bad things happening to good people. What always surprises me is our ability to cope when things go wrong. One of the biggest predictors of emotional strength is accepting reality as it is, rather than getting stuck in “why me?” mode. Research by psychologist George Bonanno shows that people who adapt quickly to change and focus on what they can control are more likely to thrive, even after trauma.

Mental PPE Tip: Ditch the “It’s not fair” narrative and focus on preparing your mind and habits to withstand inevitable storms.

2. Grow through what you go through

After a setback, most people return to their previous level of functioning. Some don’t fully recover. But others go on to grow—becoming stronger, more purposeful, and more connected. This is known as Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG), a concept supported by decades of research. People who grow after adversity often report:

• A renewed appreciation of life

• Deeper relationships

• New goals and purpose

• Greater inner strength

Psychologists Tedeschi and Calhoun found that this growth doesn’t happen by accident—it happens when we reflect, find meaning, and act in line with newly clarified values.

Mental PPE Tip: We know that writing down our thoughts, journalling, can really help with growing from adversity.

3. Learn to fail—fast and forward

Failure is not the opposite of success—it’s a key part of it. In tech start-ups, there’s a popular phrase: “Fail fast, fail forward.” Mistakes aren’t shameful—they’re expected. Even Apple didn’t wait for the perfect iPhone before releasing it—they iterated, learned, improved.

We can apply the same mindset to life. Studies show that when people view failure as feedback—not final—they experience less anxiety and more motivation (Kross et al., 2014).

Mental PPE Tip: After a setback, however small or large, ask: “What’s the lesson here?” Then move forward, better equipped.

4. Name it to tame it

There’s power in putting feelings into words and getting into the habit of labelling how we are feeling.

Neuroscientific research (Lieberman et al., 2007) shows that simply naming your emotions—like “I feel anxious” or “I feel angry”—reduces activity in the brain’s fear centre and increases activity in the logical centre. In short, naming helps tame the emotional chaos.

Mental PPE Tip: Don’t bottle it— get into the habit of labelling it. Say it out loud, write it down, or share it with someone you trust.

5. Don’t worry twice

Worrying in advance doesn’t prevent problems—it just drains your energy. One of the most useful things I tell patients is this: Don’t worry until you know you need to. Anticipatory anxiety—worrying about something that might happen—can be more damaging than the event itself. Research (Borkovec et al., 2004) shows that chronic worriers suffer more distress, even when their fears never materialise. And if the problem does arise? You’ve exhausted yourself before you’ve even begun to deal with it.

Mental PPE Tip: Ask yourself: “Do I have 100% clear evidence this will happen?” If not, let it go—for now. Don’t worry twice.

Paul is also an expert in crisis management having acted for major Clients in aircraft disasters, rail crashes, chemical explosions and other high profile Police and HSE investigations, successfully defending the ensuing prosecution. Most recently, he has represented a number of Clients in the Grenfell Inquiry. Inevitably, he has extended experience in appearing at Inquests having undertaken over 300 Inquests in the last 30 years and his presentation reflects the lessons learned.

TOP TIPS

1. Remote attendance?

Rules are to be introduced which allow Coroners, witnesses and juries to attend the actual Inquest Hearing remotely. Currently, the Coroner and Jury need to be physically in Court for the hearing with a discretion for witnesses who must convince the Coroner that it is necessary and appropriate in the circumstances before they are allowed to attend remotely. Interestingly, of note is that the Chief Coroner has expressed the view that juries should still be in Court unless exceptional circumstances apply!

2. Whose witness am I?

You are the Coroner’s Witness and no-one else’s! As a consequence, it is the Coroner who will ask you questions first before any legal representatives including your own. The questions asked are normally based on your statement or Report you have provided to the Coroner’s Officer or the Police acting on behalf of the Coroner. Unlike civil and criminal cases where witnesses are kept outside of Court whilst the proceedings are going on, helpfully, you will be able to sit in Court throughout the Inquest even before you give your evidence. Always dress professionally, perhaps as you would were you attending a job interview. Arrive early!

3. An Inquest is not a trial!

No-one is on trial but when you walk into the witness box and you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and you are asked a series of questions about what you did or did not do perhaps twelve or eighteen months ago, you may very well feel that you are on trial ! If you are called to give evidence at an Inquest for the first time, go watch an Inquest and see what happens!

4. Widening the scope of an Inquest

The Court of Appeal in the recent case of O’Brien [2025] has made it absolutely clear that an Inquest remains an inquisitorial and summary process. As this case illustrates, whilst a Coroner may well be under a duty to seek out and record as many facts as the public interest requires, this does not mean that the scope of the Inquest must always be as wide as the parties to the Inquest might, and often do, demand. The evidence relating to the conduct or event must make an actual and material contribution to the death. Often as not, but not surprisingly, the lawyers representing the Family ask questions of the witness and delve into issues which go beyond the scope of the Inquest leaving the Coroner with the real dilemma of allowing the question or the issue to be explored simply out of sympathy ! Whilst the O’Brien case strongly suggest that this would be wrong, be aware that such questioning continues to exist and be ready to object or seek the guidance of the Coroner as to its relevance to the scope of the Inquest!

5. Assisted dying

The so-called assisted dying bill as presently drafted disapplies the Coroner’s statutory duty to investigate an unnatural or violent death, so assisted deaths will receive less judicial oversight than other unnatural deaths. This is causing a number of MPs and pressure Groups a lot of disquiet particularly where issues of proper consent and/or medical opinion are brought into the mix. Whilst adding to an already overloaded Coronial system with a large backlog of cases, it appears such issues are appropriate for a Coroner to hear evidence on and make a judgement.

6. Can I avoid going to an inquest?

Producing a good statement at the outset to the Coroner’s Officer or the Police acting on behalf of the Coroner is crucial ! Such a statement can avoid you being called to attend an Inquest as a Witness as it can, at least and quite legally, be read out by the Coroner instead of requiring your personal attendance.

An inspirational and charismatic leader she has been widely credited for helping build the incredible team ethos and commitment that drove the GB team to a nail-biting victory at the Rio Olympic Games. In winning gold Kate also made history in other ways, becoming one half of the first same-sex married couple to win an Olympic medal playing in the same team. Having made her international debut as a defender in 1999, Kate maintained elite performance levels for 18 years and made 375 appearances for her country. After securing a bronze in London 2012, Rio 2016 was her fourth Games and finally yielded the coveted Olympic Gold medal. Alongside her GB duties Kate has captained England for 13 years, winning the European Championships in 2015 and securing two bronze and two silvers in four successive Commonwealth Games. Short-listed for the FIH World Player of the Year Award, Kate has also been GB Hockey’s Athlete of the Year, has twice won the prestigious Hockey Writers’ Player of the Year, and in 2017 was awarded an OBE for services to hockey. Kate was also nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award in December 2016. Kate was given the honour of carrying the Great Britain flag in the closing ceremony of her final Olympic Games in Rio 2016.

TOP TIPS

1. Connection starts with us

To truly connect and build strong relationships with other people we first must connect with ourselves. We are all so busy and lots of us put ourselves last on the to do list. Can we tune into our mental, physical and emotional state on a regular basis to enable us to “do” more good days than bad? Do we know what good looks like and what we need to do to prepare for a good day? What things do we need to be aware of and take control of if we are able? This is a daily practice and will help you feel a greater sense of control and a deeper level of self-empathy.

2. Step into your power

Are you able to say with absolute confidence what you are excellent at? Would you be able to share it with your team, family or friends? Do you know the strengths of the people around you? This was one of our winning differences. The knowledge of my super strengths enables me to dive into my role with clarity and confidence. I feel more valued and worthy when I know that I am playing to my strengths to help the team achieve its goals. Being able to create opportunities and platforms for you to deliver to your super strengths is what teamwork is all about. Shine your light brightly for all to see.

3. Putting marbles in the trust jar

Trust is hard earned and easily broken. Trust is at the heart of every strong relationship and high performing team. To build it we must be prepared to be brave and be vulnerable. Showing up authentically allows people to connect fully. Giving people space to show up fully as themselves without fear of judgement or retribution builds empathy and again contributes to trust. This is daily intentional work. Building trust can feel uncomfortable and clunky at times but the rewards will far outweigh the small moments of discomfort. Teams and relationships built on trust are resilient and agile. It will be more fun and there will be more wins.

She co-designed and skippered Plastiki, a 60-foot catamaran built from reclaimed plastic bottles, across the Pacific Ocean to raise global awareness of plastic pollution. Over her career, Jo has worked with 22 governments to reduce plastic waste, led pioneering research that uncovered the first evidence of microplastics in human blood, and co-led the Global Ocean Legacy campaign, securing protection for over 4.4 million km² of ocean – including Pitcairn, one of the world’s most remote marine reserves. She also helped launch the international Plastic Pact with King Charles III (then Prince of Wales) International Sustainability Unit, now spanning 19 countries and more than 900 member organisations. Her work has been featured by the BBC, National Geographic, Vogue, and TEDx, and she is the recipient of the Geddes Environmental Medal. Today, Jo focuses on ventures supporting resilient coastal communities and advancing the rights of nature.

TOP TIPS

1. See Nature as Infrastructure

Healthy oceans, soils and ecosystems underpin supply chains, workforce wellbeing and long-term economic stability. Nature is not a “nice to have” – it is critical infrastructure. Treat it accordingly.

2. Design for Resilience, Not Just Efficiency

Systems optimised only for speed and yield become fragile. Living systems build strength through diversity, recovery time and cooperation. Organisations that design for resilience will outperform those that design only for growth.

3. Fix the Design Flaw

We built many of our economic systems as if we were separate from nature. We are not. When we ignore ecological limits, the consequences show up in human health, instability and risk.

4. Redesign as a part of nature – because separation was the flaw.

Think Regenerative Regenerative systems circulate value, respect limits, build redundancy and reward care. This is not idealism. It is applied intelligence – informed by nearly four billion years of research and development.

5. Lead Where You Stand

Everyone has a role:

Citizen: Spend time in nature – we protect what we experience.
Corporate: Give nature a voice on your Board. Governance shapes behaviour.
Investor: Direct capital toward long-term ecological resilience.
Policy: Support clear regulation – strong signals accelerate innovation.

6. Imagine the Legacy

We designed the systems we live within. We can redesign them. The ocean is already signalling. The question is whether leadership is ready to respond.

Over the past two decades, he has worked with leaders across industries to challenge outdated thinking, inspire ownership, and embed change that sticks.

TOP TIPS

1. Trust is Earned Daily

Issue: Many leaders expect trust simply because of their title or intentions, yet trust is built only through visible follow-through.

Hack/Solve: End every interaction by delivering on one small promise within 24 hours, it builds credibility faster than any speech.

2. Accountability is Not a Poster

Issue: Organisations talk about accountability, but without follow-up, it becomes a word on the wall, not a lived behaviour.

Hack/Solve: In every meeting, have one action owner, one deadline, and a visible tracker. Nothing disappears without a check-in.

3. Bravery and Connection Drive Change

Issue: Leaders avoid hard conversations in the name of harmony, but avoidance kills both trust and progress.

Hack/Solve: Schedule one “courageous conversation” a week: a direct, honest discussion you have been avoiding and make it routine.

4. Narratives Make or Break Change

Issue: Change collapses when people cannot see themselves in the story or believe the reason behind it.

Hack/Solve: Replace corporate slogans with one authentic story about why this matters, told consistently by every leader in their own words.

5. Stay the Course When the Buzz Dies

Issue: Most culture change fails in the “boring middle” after the launch energy fades.

Hack/Solve: Pre-plan the mid-journey by locking in non-negotiable review points to keep momentum alive long after the kick-off.

In that time I worked my way up to be a project manager running projects such as ITV Studios, Manchester City’s training ground, large projects for the MOD, student accommodation, schools and prisons all over the UK. As well as working on Tier One contracts I also ran my own brickwork company, growing the business from just me to a team of 16.

Those years were a big and steep learning curve for me as this was the first time I started to realise that working and not looking after my own needs began to impact on my mental well-being and the people around me that I loved. In 2018 I experienced a mental breakdown, due to not looking after my mental well-being, because I had the attitude that ‘things like this don’t happen to people like me’. I created The MYH Podcast back in 2021, to create a space for people in the construction industry to feel safe to share their experiences. I started the podcast because my biggest problem was I didn’t TALK! And a podcast is all about talking.

I wanted to let others know they aren’t alone as well as, giving them hope that it can get better. I now no longer lay bricks or run projects, I now raise awareness around mental well-being in the industry. Over the past 3 years I have spoken to over 30,000 construction workers up and down the country teaching them about how to look after their mental health and well-being in the construction industry. I am also an ambassador for The Lighthouse Construction Charity as well as a Make It Visible team member.

TOP TIPS

1. Learning to understand mental health doesn’t look the same to everyone and how you can prioritise yours.

Both physical and mental health are essential aspects of our well-being and like physical fitness, individuals vary in their levels of readiness. While some may excel in challenging activities such as marathons, others may find park runs to be arduous. It is crucial to recognise that everyone has their own unique fitness level, and comparisons to others or even to past selves should be avoided. Mental health manifests differently in each individual, and it is imperative that we prioritise our own well-being as well as that of others. When nurturing our mental health, it is essential to establish boundaries and communicate assertively by declining requests that do not align with our needs and preferences.

2. Learn to be kind to yourself and realise you can achieve things in life.

Occasionally, we can be our most critical critique, failing to recognise the positive aspects of our work. Additionally, comparing ourselves to others can lead to feelings of inadequacy. However, it is important to remember that achieving something can range from simple tasks like making the bed to complex projects. The key is to focus on the progress made and the efforts invested to reach a particular goal.

3. The importance of reaching out for help when you need it.

When our mental well-being diminishes, we may occasionally hesitate to seek support due to the apprehension of causing burden. However, this concern is frequently unfounded. Furthermore, you may experience feelings of isolation, but it is essential to acknowledge that you are not alone in this process.

Numerous resources are available to assist you in restoring

Exhibiting at events—whether trade shows, conferences, or expos—offers a powerful way to connect with potential clients, partners, and industry peers. But with dozens (sometimes hundreds) of other businesses competing for attention, simply turning up with a branded stand isn’t enough. To truly maximise your opportunities, you need a strategic approach before, during, and after the event.

1. Set Clear Objectives

Before you invest time and resources, define what success looks like. Are you aiming to:

Generate new leads?

Strengthen relationships with existing clients?

Raise brand awareness?

Launch a new product or service?

Having measurable goals (e.g., number of qualified leads, product demos booked, meetings scheduled) will help focus your team and track ROI after the event.

2. Design a Stand That Stands Out

Your exhibition space is your shop window. Invest in a stand design that is eye-catching but uncluttered, communicates your value proposition instantly, and invites interaction. Consider:

Clear, bold branding visible from a distance.

Digital screens or interactive displays.

Open, welcoming layouts that encourage people to step in.

3. Train and Energise Your Team

The best stand design won’t matter if your staff aren’t engaging. Equip your team with:

A clear pitch that explains what you do in under 30 seconds.

Knowledge of the products/services being promoted.

Friendly, approachable body language (no hiding behind phones or laptops!).

A motivated, approachable team is one of the biggest success factors at events.

4. Promote Before the Event

Don’t wait for foot traffic to find you—create buzz in advance.

Email existing clients and prospects to let them know where you’ll be.

Share updates on LinkedIn, Instagram, or X (Twitter) with your stand location.

Schedule meetings with key prospects ahead of time.

The more people arrive already planning to see you, the better.

5. Offer Value and Interactivity

Give visitors a reason to stop by. This could be:

Live demos of your product.

Interactive experiences (VR, gamification, or hands-on trials).

Free resources (guides, checklists, research reports) relevant to your audience.

Branded giveaways can work too—but make them useful and memorable, not just another pen.

6. Capture and Qualify Leads

Have a clear system for collecting contact details—whether that’s via badge scanners, digital forms, or business cards. More importantly, capture context (e.g., what they were interested in) so follow-up conversations are personalised.

7. Network Beyond the Stand

Some of the most valuable connections happen outside your booth. Attend workshops, panels, and networking sessions. Introduce yourself to neighbouring exhibitors. Sometimes, competitors even turn into collaborators.

8. Follow Up Quickly

Your post-event strategy is just as important as your preparation. Within a few days:

Send personalised follow-up emails while conversations are still fresh.

Connect on LinkedIn with a short reminder of where you met.

Share event highlights on social media to reinforce your presence.
